ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN

ABOUT ME

Hi there! I’m Shawn, an architect and designer living in Oakland, CA.  I’m at home here in the Wild West (I grew up in Salt Lake City and have a deep love for desert canyons), but have traveled and worked across the world.  I am ambitiously motivated to build a more healthy and resilient planet, to support open and equitable cities, to be a part of engaged and active communities, and to be warm and generous with my family and friends.

My work is unified more by a process of rigorous curiosity and a drive for refined craft than any style or aesthetic.  I collaborate well and bring a strategic mindset, a clarity around intent, and an open honesty to every team I join.  Underlying those values is my background in making and fabrication.  I design through building, and whether the product is material or digital, I like to explore the boundaries of what a design could be through an iterative process of making, then testing, then interpreting and making again.

I am a licensed architect registered in California, and also am credentialed as a LEED Green Associate.  I earned my M.Arch at California College of the Arts and my B.S.Arch at the University of Utah. I”m a Project Architect at Woods Bagot in San Francisco, focusing on work in the Aviation, Workplace, and Multi-Family Residential sectors.  I’m also a frequent collaborator at The Open Workshop on a range of urban design proposals, installation works, and research projects.
